The hedopelagic zone is the zone that runs from 20,000 feet to the bottom of the ocean. There is no light in this zone and the temperatures are just above freezing. There are very few living creatures at this depth, and the ones that do live there usually just feed off of the nutrients from the chemical reactions in thermal vents and marine snow, which is given the name because it is the dead organisms that float down from the other layer and "snows" to the bottom of the ocean. The deepest part of the hedopelagic zone is in the Mariana trench and is around 35,000 feet deep.
The viperfish is a fish that can be found in the hedopelagic zone. The viperfish belongs to the animilia family, the chordata phylum, and the chauliodus genus. These fish have extremely deadly jaws and teeth. This is because at this depth, the viperfish adapted this deadly jaw because if it catches anything, there is no chance for it to get away. With the lack of nutrition available at these depths, it is crucial for the viperfish to be able to grab and hold on to its prey, whether it be another fish or any particles from the marine snow.
